Little Italy Baltimore - Piccola Italia

Little Italy in Baltimore, also known as “Piccola Italia,” is a downtown neighborhood with a rich history that serves as a cultural and ethnic icon for the Italian-American community of the Charm City. With almost 30 restaurants, you are sure to find something that is “molto bene” to satisfy your appetite. In addition, you can take advantage of its cultural activities, including bocce ball tournaments, Festivals of the Saints and even learning how to speak Italian. Every summer, Little Italy features numerous special events, such as the Friday night Open Air Film Fest.

Little Italy was formed in the early 20th century by Italian immigrants who brought their traditions from the old country to their new home: America. Today, many of the original families who lived in the row houses still own them and continue to raise new generations.

Located near other Baltimore neighborhoods, such as Harbor East and Federal Hill, it is easy to reach Little Italy via car, water taxi, the Metro or simply walking there from the Inner Harbor. When you come to visit, you are sure to hear the word “benvenuto,” which means welcome, more than once.
